How to Build Gaming Computers

A Gaming Computer, also known as gaming PC, is a personal computer that is capable of playing computationally and graphically demanding video games. They are very similar to conventional computers with the exception that these machines are fitted with performance-oriented video card and other specifications. This type of computers can be easily bought in the market but at a much higher price compared to the conventional computers. Since most of the gamers are both cost and performance conscious, most of them opt to build their own gaming computer than buying a built-in gaming computer.

Building your own custom gaming computer simply means you buy all your computer components separately and piece them up together to guild your gaming PC. With this method you can achieve a fast and cost-effective gaming computer suited to your own gaming needs. Besides saving a lot of money and having an efficient machine, building your own gaming computer can also be a lot of fun.

How to choose your components?

Perhaps the biggest challenge one can face when building their own gaming computer is choosing the right components for your needs. So without further ado, here is a simple guide in order to help you in building your own gaming computer.

1. Central Processing Unit (CPU)

The Central Processing Unit (CPU) is one of the most important core components in all computer systems. The CPU is a portion in the system that carries out the instructions of a computer program. In simple terms it could describe as the brains of the computer. The performance of your games and other applications will depend on this microprocessor.

Choosing the best Central Processing Unit (CPU) for your gaming computer can be a hard decision to make. Picking the latest, fastest, or most expensive processor on the market won't always result in the right CPU for your particular system. Some processors are designed to work with a certain or specific motherboards, thus the CPU type limits the motherboard type you can use.

For a gaming computer, you will really need a powerful CPU for it to performing superbly. Luckily these CPUs are supplied by Intel and AMD (Advanced Micro Devices) at an affordable price.

Intel has the Core i7 and Core i5 processor models. Currently these models are the most popular ones used for gaming purposes, which are mostly recommended for gaming computers.

AMD, on the other hand, has the Athlon and Phenom series. If you want to go AMD, you can try the most recommended Phenom X4 series.

2. Motherboard

The motherboard is the hub of the computer system. It is where all other components are connected to. If we consider the CPU as the brain of the computer system, then the motherboard is the central nervous system. Thus buying the best motherboard is a good investment.

After choosing your CPU, next you need to consider choosing your motherboard for your gaming computer. When selecting a motherboard, you should remember three things.

First, a motherboard will generally support one type of processor only. Different CPUs have different connectors that physically vary with one another, Make sure that your CPU plug is suitable to your mother board connector.

Second, motherboards have a certain speed limitation depending on the processor model. Maximum processor speed allowed by the motherboard will be quoted in the motherboard specifications. Before buying, check whether your selected motherboard can support your chosen CPU.

Third, motherboards are the ones who can dictate the type and amount of RAM you can have. In a gaming computer, you would want to have either DDR SDRAM or RDRAM which is at least 1G worth. So ensure that your motherboard can support this type and amount of memory.

Here are some examples of well-known motherboards manufacturers where you can browse for your perfect gaming motherboard: ASUS, ABIT, MSI, XFX, EVGA, Intel, and Gigabyte.

3. Hard Drive

The hard drive is the computer component responsible for storing your files and programs. When buying a hard drive for your gaming computer, consider these three main features: speed, size, and the type of interface.

[Speed] Basically the faster the hard drive spins the fast you are able to access and transfer your data. Currently, the best hard drives in the market these days can have a speed around 7200rpm (rounds per minute). In a gaming computer, you don't want anything less than this; else it will cause delays between reading and writing data.

Faster hard drives that reach speeds of 10,000rpm and 15,000rpm are available in the market at a higher price. For your gaming computer, a 7200rpm hard drive is already enough for but if you can shell out more money, then you can opt for these faster hard drives.

[Size] Hard drives come in different sizes, which can range from 80GB to 500GB and more. For your gaming computer, it is always recommended that you purchase the largest hard drive you can afford. This will allow you to store lots and lots of software and data (including games).

[Interface] The interface of the hard drive is responsible for managing the exchange of data between a computer and the hard drive. Currently, the most commonly used hard drive interface used today is Advanced Technology Attachment (ATA); which comes in two forms, the original Parallel ATA (PATA) and the newer and faster Serial ATA (SATA).

There's also the expensive Small Computer System Interface (SCSI) which are used primarily for high-end workstation computer. For you gaming computer, it is sufficient enough to have the SATA if your motherboard can support it.

4. Video Card

Choosing the right video card that is supported by both your CPU and motherboard is a very important and tough decision to make. The gaming video card you choose will be responsible for producing the dazzling 3D graphics and effects seen in the latest computer games. A better graphics card can deliver a better 3D gaming experience, so the best and affordable video card should be bought for you gaming computer.

The graphic processing unit (GPU) can be connected to your motherboard through AGP or PCI Express slot. For you gaming computer, it is recommended that you use a graphics card connected through a PCI Express slot on your motherboard.

The speed and efficiency of the GPU should not be the only thing that counts when buying your video card. You should also consider the advance 3D rendering effects such as anti-aliasing, anisotropic filtering, bump-mapping, pixel shaders and much more. For your gaming computer, consider a video card that can support such latest 3D rendering techniques in the software world.

Like the CPU market, there are two primary competing companies that current dominate the graphic card. These companies are ATI and nVidia. ATI is responsible for the Radeon series, while nVidia is marketing the GeForce line of cards.

5. Power Supply

One of the vital and overlooked components of the computer system is the power supply. Without a power supply, the computer will not be able to operate its functions. Its main purpose is to convert AC power from the main line to usable low-voltage DC power for the internal components of the computer. The power supply gives out three different DC voltages to your computer 12VDC, 5VDC, and 3VDC which are used differently by computer components.

Each power supply has a certain amount of energy or wattage based on their maximum output power. Wattages commonly ranges from 300W to 500W but some high-end gaming power supply can reach ranges of 800W to 1kW.

If you want to use a power supply for you gaming computer, it is recommended to have at least a power supply ranging from 500W and above.

6. Gaming Monitor

One of the most expensive components in your gaming computer would be the computer monitor. When buying a gaming computer monitor you only need to consider three things: size, native resolution, and price.

[Size] Computer monitors comes in different sizes from the small 15 inches to a larger 23 inches, and even larger. 17 inches is a common size and large enough for most people, but if you want to increase your viewing and gaming experience then a larger size monitor is advisable.

[Native Resolution] Each monitor has been designed for a certain resolution, which is known as the native resolution. If you change the resolution of a monitor to a resolution that doesn't coincide with its native resolution; the image will then be scaled and the quality will be lessen significantly. Native resolution of a monitor is dependent on its size. Here are some examples of native resolution for common sizes:

17 inches 1024x768

19 inches 1280x1024

20 inches 1600x1200

[Cost] Prices vary greatly between sizes, where smaller ones cost cheaper than larger ones. So choose a size that can satisfy your need while taking into consideration your budget.

7. Gaming Keyboard

Custom built keyboards designed specifically for gaming can give an edge to a gamer using it. But currently, there is no general gaming keyboard that can be recommended for all gamers. Why? This is due to the fact that different gamers have different or varying styles of play, posture, and wrist anatomy. So basically, there is no such thing as a gaming keyboard that is best for everyone.

According to Build-Gaming-Computers, one of the best gaming keyboards available in the market is the Logitech G15 Gaming Keyboard. This keyboard has been custom-made to meet a gamer's need. It specifically features:

a. An adjustable, backlit LCD screen that displays important in-game information during gameplay;

b. Backlit keys to play in the dark or low-lit areas;

c. 18 programmable "G keys" used to execute macros; and

d. Timer controls to keep track of game events.

8. Gaming Mouse

Like the gaming keyboard, choosing the best gaming mouse can help increase the level of your gaming experience. Using a custom-designed gaming mouse gives the best accuracy and control which allows you to play games at your best.

Computer mouse come in different types which are the optical, laser, and ball mice types. Currently, optical and laser type mouse are commonly used due to their precision and better tracking, allowing for more accuracy and control.

When selecting the best mouse for your gamin computer, you should consider a number of factors. One of the most important one is the resolution. Resolution is the number of pixels per inch a mouse's optical sensor and focusing lens can see when you move the mouse around. The higher the resolution a mouse has, the better the accuracy and precision.

Next consider the responsiveness of the mouse. It is the number of megapixels per second the mouse can process. This is important especially in fast-paced games such as first person shooters games. The more megapixels per second the mouse can process, the more responsive it is; thus it offers faster and precise control in your games.

So when buying a gaming mouse, consider the resolution and responsiveness of the mouse you are going to buy.

Android RPG Games

Mobile phones have gotten fancier over the years. First the developers added cameras, the internet and now most smart phones can now play video games. They're not budget games like Snake or Tetris either. Smart phones are able to play video games that have the same quality that portable gaming devices produce.

One of the most recent smart phones released is Sony's Xperia Play. Xperia Play has been dubbed as the world's first PlayStation certified phone. Not only is it a phone, but it can double as a portable gaming device. The controls are very similar Sony's other products such as the PSP and the PS3 controller just to name a few.

This means you can finally play PlayStation-style video games with the comfort of a real control scheme. There is nothing more uncomfortable than playing games on your phone using the horrible numbered keypad. The most pleasant thing about the Xperia Play is that some PlayStation Classic games will be heading their way onto the system very soon.

Although there have not been any RPG PlayStation games available yet, it's more than likely that Square Enix will release some of its Final Fantasy games onto the platform. Final Fantasy VII, VIII and IX have all been ported to Sony's PlayStation Network. The thought of putting Final Fantasy VII (the most popular RPG ever made) on the Xperia Play could help Sony take a hold of the market dominated mostly by Apple.

Zenonia 2 is an old-school 16-Japanese RPG much like the older Final Fantasy games from the early '90s. The 2D graphics are cute and the game itself is one of the better RPGs available on Android phones. Although the game is heavily inspired by Japanese RPGs, it's actually made in Korea. Nevertheless, I'm sure it's a game RPG fans will love playing.

Gurk is a game that will be liked from gamers who grew up in the '80s. It's an old-school style video game that is only a mere 100KB to download. Despite Gurk's very old style of graphics, it's still in color and a blast to play. There are 24 levels in all and a total of 23 monsters for you to find and kill. Gurk won't be a game liked by modern gamers, but if you grew up playing the original Nintendo game system, you will fall in love with its old-school style of gameplay.

Another RPG game available on Android phones is Dungeon Defenders: First Wave. The game is an online cooperative action-RPG much like Torchlight and Baldur's Gate. The game is free to download for most phones. The graphics are in full 3D and looks stunning for a game that costs nothing to download. Up to four players can play together online. It may be clich├ęd and borrows elements from most other RPG games, however its visuals and multiplayer is what makes it quite fun.

Whether you own an Xperia Play or not, there are tons of RPG games to explore on Android phones. Quite a few of them are free to download, so there's no excuse for you not to play any of the games here on offer. Let's hope Square Enix brings more Final Fantasy games to the Android market as that will certainly boost the popularity of the genre.

The Future of Social Gaming

The hottest trend currently in gaming is social gaming. Social gaming is very popular because it allows you to play with your friends or complete strangers and gives you the ability to communicate via a headset. Some of the most popular social titles are games like Halo, Call of Duty, Guitar Hero, Little Big Planet and many more.

social gaming

New innovations like Xbox 360 Kinect and the PlayStation Move are changing the way you play games. These gadgets allow you to get a group of friends together or the whole family and play a game together. The Xbox Kinect does not even require a controller, YOU are the controller. The Kinect gives you a full body gaming experience which is very cool. The PlayStation Move is not as hands free as the Kinect, as it requires a wand-like controller, similar to the Wii console. The Move is also geared for the social side of gaming and encourages the entire family to get involved.

The first person shooter games like Call of Duty and Halo have benefited greatly from this social trend. Both PlayStation and Xbox have online portals where you can sign on for any game but these titles are probably the most well-known for being social gaming titles.

Another gadget that is impacting this gaming trend is the ability to take gaming anywhere is the pico projector. Picos allow you to project up to a 60" screen which is perfect for taking your gaming to go. Multi-player titles are the perfect application for pico projectors.

According to the sales numbers reported by Sony and Microsoft, the Move is currently outperforming the Kinect. Sony is reporting that since launching in September the Move has sold 4.1 million units worldwide. This announcement came after Microsoft announced it had sold 2.5 million units in the first 25 days.

Both of these devices should be popular with the holiday season right around the corner it will be interesting to see which gadget comes out on top.

Thank you for reading.

Video Games Industry

Video games come with a distinctive appeal that draws legions of followings. Proving its dominant drawing power, global video game purchases reached a staggering 500 million in 2010. The industry continues to serve one of most lucrative markets with gamers collectively spending 3 billion hours each week playing the said platform.

Investigative findings by The Association of Psychological Science reveal that gaming in general is considered as the ideal platform for players to take on the characteristics of their "ideal self." Video games offer gamers the opportunity to play an ideal role or virtually adopt a new identity, bringing about feelings of enjoyment of the massively social and interactive gaming experience and satisfaction at each victory.

A Formidable Industry

In 2008, the video game industry - covering all video games in all video formats - made more money than all Blu-ray and DVD movie releases combined in terms of product sales. Video game sales were at $32 billion, up by 20 per cent from 2007. Hollywood film sales dropped six per cent, fixed at only $29 billion.

A case in point is Grand Theft Auto IV, which became a jaw-dropping success when it broke two entertainment industry records, hauling the biggest sales on a single-day and seven-day basis since its release on April 29, 2008. GTA IV sold 3.6 million copies or $310 million in equivalent sales within the first 24 hours of its availability. On the first week, the sales figures subsequently skyrocketed to over six million units or an equivalent of $500 million.

The GTA IV first-week earnings are comparable to giant movie releases. In a report by Reuters, the British-produced video game has outperformed Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince from Warner Bros., which raked in $394 million during its opening week in 2009. GTA IV also beat blockbuster Spider-Man 3 from Sony and Buena Vista's Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End, which earned $382 million and $344 million, respectively, when they opened in cinemas in 2007.

On December 12, 2011, Modern Warfare 3 officially de-throned the number one movie of all time - Avatar, as the fastest entertainment media to reach the $1 billion mark. The former got its first billion dollar earnings 16 days after it was released while the latter for 17 days.

Exemplifying robust international business marketing techniques, video games have also amassed earnings from its European market, decisively pulling the limelight away from the movie industry. Regarded as "the most valuable purchased entertainment market," video game sales are four times more than cinema earnings, also trumping music and DVD sales combined.

Shedding light on the phenomenal video game following, UK paper The Guardian notes how video gaming pushes itself to the mainstream consciousness by stimulating the consumer's intelligence, appealing to their imagination and improving constancy in player involvement - something that Hollywood may not be very successful at.

A Glimpse of the Future

Industry research firm Gartner, Inc. has estimated that in 2011, global spending on the gaming ecosystem will reach over $74 billion, showing an increase of 10.4 per cent from $67 billion in 2010. Key transitions to gaming technology, business and software strategies are predicted to last beyond 2015, and by then, spending will jump to a whopping $112 billion.

The gaming ecosystem covers gaming console manufacturers Nintendo, Sony and Microsoft; software for platforms or game consoles like PlayStation 2 and 3, Wii and Xbox 360; portable consoles Nintendo DS and DSi, Game Boy Advance, and Sony PSP; PC or notebook software; mobile gaming, as well as online and social gaming.

Discussing gaming business and software strategies in general, marketing firm Zebra Partners representative Perrin Kaplan tells Gaming Business Review that gamers will tend to respond to new products, irrespective of how they are being packaged - console, PC, handheld or Internet. With new games mushrooming on various forms of media, the challenge for vendors in the video game industry is to adapt to what insatiable gamers want: to be continuously surprised and interested by a new type of fun and new technology that come with video gaming.

International business marketing, when paired properly with first-rate business and software strategies, can be a great tool for enterprise success. It has the capability to bridge gaps between an organization and its clients.

Metal Gear Solid 4 Secrets

Metal Gear Solid 4 is the best-selling game from Konami (now gone into the Platinum Best Sellers list of PS3 games). There are plenty of Metal Gear Solid 4 secrets that can be uncovered simply, just by completing the game multiple times, but there are also a lot of secrets that you might require a helping hand with finding and unlocking. Note that this guide does include spoilers, so if you haven't yet completed the game, I'd recommend you do so before reading on.

Metal Gear Solid 4

First of all, when you go back to Shadow Moses in the forth act, there is a scene where you must enter a password to open a large hanger door. However, there are three secret passwords that will unlock certain things. Entering the code '14893' will give you 100,000 Drebin Points immediately. Not bad! The codes '78925' and '13462' will both unlock bonus songs for your iPod.

These are not the only secret passwords in the game. If you go to the 'Extras' screen on the main menu, and choose the 'Password' option and enter 'mnsoymsyh', you'll receive the Mosin Nagant tranquiliser sniper rifle when you first meet up with the Mk.II. For the Desert Eagle Long Barrel, enter 'deskyhstyl'. For the 'Thor.45-70', enter 'tshsniammr'. Finally, for the Altair costume, enter 'aottrykmyn'.

As with the first game in the series, and all subsequent games, there is the expected selection of Metal Gear Solid 4 secrets. The bandanna that gives you unlimited ammunition is unlocked by completing the game without killing a single enemy (except those that you cannot avoid). All bosses must be taken down via tranquiliser. For the weapon that The Boss uses in MGS3, named the 'Patriot Future Assault Weapon', you must complete the game and be awarded the Big Boss emblem. Finally, for stealth camouflage, you must complete the game without raising a single alert.

Top 10 Best SNES Games Ever

Creating a list of the top 10 best SNES games ever is definitely something that will be subjective towards the creator's personal views. Both the games that make the list and the order of the list can be debated. Here is a list of the top 10 best SNES games ever.

10 - Street Fighter II Turbo: Hyper Fighting - This game probably made it to number one on any best SNES games list that was created by someone who loves fighting games. It is arguably the best fighting game for the SNES. With the addition of the Super Turbo feature, this game took the Street Fighter series to a whole new level.

9 - EarthBound - Although not very successful in the United States, EarthBound was extremely successful in Japan. It was praised there for its humorous depictions of American culture (can't imagine why it sold poorly in the US) and parody of the RPG genre. Since then, it has become a cult classic.

8 - Final Fantasy II - By some, the graphics were considered outdated at the time of release. But FFII was praised for its length and bonus content and shipped over 1.28 million copies within five years of its initial release. It is considered one of the best Final Fantasy games and a great Final Fantasy game for the SNES.

7 - Mega Man X - This game was the second series for the Mega Man franchise and debuted on the SNES. It was intended to give a new image for the Mega Man series and it did. The game spawned over half a dozen follow-up games as well as another series, Megan Man Xtreme, and a spin-off series, Mega Max X: Command Mission.

6 - Chrono Trigger - Considered by some to best the best RPG of all time on the SNES, Chrono Trigger has also made the number slot on many other overall lists as well. Its primary competition in the RPG category comes with the Final Fantasy series, specifically Final Fantasy III. But Chrono Trigger is definitely one of the best games of all time on any console.

5 - Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars - A hybrid game that was part adventure and part role-playing game, the Super Mario RPG was the final Super Mario game on the SNES. It has received very good reviews since its release and was consistently featured in many "best game of all-time" lists.

4 - Super Mario World - This is often considered the best platform game for the SNES. The Super Mario series is the captain of platform games and Super Mario World is no exception. It was the best selling game for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System with over 20 million copies sold worldwide.

3 - Final Fantasy III - Probably the best game of arguably the best RPG series of all time, Final Fantasy. Final Fantasy III had great 2D graphics, an incredible soundtrack, and was a massive success in both Japan and the United states. The game appealed to both hardcore RPG players and newcomers to the RPGs.

2 - Super Metroid - Although the Metroid series did not originally reach the commercial success that some of its counterparts did, Super Metroid was given near-universal acclaim upon release. It is considered by many to be one of the best, if not the best, 2d action adventure game ever.

1 - The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past - This game may not be number one on every list of the best SNES games ever, but for any fan of the Super Nintendo Entertainment System it absolutely must make the list. Both the Zelda series and the character of Link remain some of the most popular game icons in video game history. The game is considered to be one of the greatest video games, of any console, of all time.

That is it. That was one author's submission for the top 10 best SNES games ever. The list, like all top 10, top 25, or top 100 lists is completely subjective to the preferences of the author. This is a pretty solid list though when you consider series popularity, game units sold, and overall game reviews. What is your list of the best SNES games?

The Sony PSP Vs the Nintendo DS

There are two popular hand held gaming systems on the market today. One is the Sony PlayStation Portable, or PSP, and the other is the Nintendo DS. Both of these portable gaming systems are suitable for any age. There have been redesigns of the PSP which have made the PSP thinner and lighter and has also added certain additions such as an increased color range on the screen, a microphone, new buttons and a anti-reflection screen to increase outdoor game play. Nintendo has also released redesigns of the DS titled the DS Lite and DSi. The DS has numerous color schemes, with Nintendo releasing new color options all of the time.

The Sony PSP has very sleek engineering and a wide screen. The graphics on the PSP are very similar to that of the bigger console named the PlayStation 2. Not only can games be played on the PSP, but it also has Wi-Fi capabilities built in and allows the user to listen to music, watch videos or store pictures. The Nintendo DS has dual playing screens and features a built in microphone as well as Wi-Fi capabilities. The dual screen technology allows the user to input game play using a stylus or their fingers. This aspect of the DS allows the gamer to interact with certain games instead of just pushing buttons to achieve actions. The DS also has traditional buttons, but the touch screen has to be used with most of the games. The DS's microphone is used during game play for voice recognition, online chatting with friends during certain games and some games require the user to blow or shout into the microphone. Both the PSP and DS have built in stereo speakers.

In order for the user to store game saves, or any other type of media on the PSP, the use of memory sticks is required. Depending on the amount of storage needed, the user may require an extensive collection of memory cards to keep everything they need. The DS does not require memory cards because the games use the same design as older Nintendo games in the fact that all game saves are stored directly onto the game cartridge itself. One thing that some people may worry about when purchasing a portable gaming system is battery life. The PSP battery has a surprising long life considering all of the different functions that the PSP is capable of doing. Of all the research that has been done, it seems that the shortest amount of time that the battery lasts is a little over three hours and that is while playing a game that takes full advantage of all the graphics and Wi-Fi technology. The Nintendo DS has a lithium-ion battery which generally lasts about ten hours when fully charged, however, multiple factors can increase or decrease battery life such as brightness of the screen, speaker volume, and the backlight.

Up to sixteen consoles can be connected at once to enjoy head to head game play over the Wi-Fi connection on the PSP. The Sony PSP also has a 2.0 USB port which allows the user to download files from their computer through a normal USB cable. The DS has the ability to allow multiple players to connect their individual DS's using wireless connectivity of a range of up to sixty feet. Only one game cartridge is needed to use this function. A good component of the PSP is that the user will not have to worry about outdated software or having a system that is not compatible with newer PSP items. With the PSP, the user can simply update their software using any wireless network connection.

Sony has an extensive list of game titles to be played on the PSP, even some of the bigger titles that are normally reserved for bigger consoles. The only drawback to the game play on the PSP is the long load times of the games. In addition to the games available for the PSP, movies as well as certain television shows can also be found on Universal Media Disks, or UMD's. One aspect of the Nintendo DS is that it is backwards compatible and all of the games that were made for one of Nintendo's older portable systems, the Game Boy Advance, can be played on the DS as well. With the games for the DS, the dual screen or touch screen action allows the gamer to participate in some truly exclusive aspects of game play.

Metal Gear Solid 4 Walkthrough

Metal Gear Solid 4 End - Find Out the Amazing Plot-Twisting Ending

Metal Gear Solid 4 games are famous for having amazing stories. They are also famous for finishing off those stories with amazing ending. Who can forget the ending of the first Metal Gear Solid, where you're flying out of Shadow Moses, across a snowy Alaska in a helicopter, after a long and epic battle with Liquid Snake. Or the end of Metal Gear Solid 3, where you fight The Boss in the a field of beautiful white flowers, before finishing her off with her own gun, and finding out the real reason why she betrayed her country.

The newest game in the series is no different, and the fantastic Metal Gear Solid 4 end does not fail to disappoint. Note that if you have not yet completed MGS4, or you do not want the ending spoiled, stop reading now. Since the Metal Gear Solid 4 end is the most dramatic, and is best experienced whilst playing the game, you should first do so.

The ending of the game sees a lot of loose ends tied up. Meryl and Johnny are seen being wed, and Meryl finally accepts Roy Campbell as her true father. After Raiden's epic fight with vamp, and continued excursions, he is seen in hospital, getting better. During this time, he is visited by Rose, and she reveals their son to him. All happy families there, then.

Meanwhile, After Solid Snake's fight with Liquid Snake, having realised that Ocelot was partly controlling Liquid, and of their plan to destroy the Patriots, Snake can't accept the life that it seems he is heading towards - becoming a weapons for someone's means. After coming to terms with this, he stands in front of Big Boss' grave, about to take his own life for the good of the world. The Metal Gear Solid 4 end sequence ends on a cliff-hanger, and cuts to a new scene.

In the next cutscene we see Big Boss arrive in a wheel chair, just in time to stop Snake. Despite the rumours that Big Boss has been dead for years, he is very much alive, and the body that was seen burning was that of his clone - Solidus Snake. Snake changes his mind about death, and decides to live the rest of his life with Otacon and Sunny.

DOTA Strategy

DOTA stands for Defence of the Ancients. It is a mod for Warcraft 3. Since its inception, there have been a number of good DOTA Strategy guides written about it.

Here are 7 DOTA Strategy 101 tips to help you get into the game.

Tip #1 Farming

Farming means killing creeps or neutrals for gold. The more enemy creeps you kill, the more gold you'll receive. Sometimes when farming becomes difficult, player may turn to farming neutral characters for extra gold.

Tip #2 Last Hit

Last Hit means moving in close to hit the enemy creep for gold. Damaging an enemy creep does not provide gold, so its beneficial for a non-ranged character to move in for a last hit to receive this benefit. This also allows you to stay out of range of the opposing team.

Making a last hit requires a feel of the timing to deal direct damage for different characters. You can get a feel of this simply by playing the game often. A good strategy is to keep the thumb on the "ALT" key so that you can readily see the life line of the creeps, and only move in to get a last hit when its life is low.

Tip #3 Hot Key

Hot Key is an essential DOTA strategy. Different spells are tied to different buttons which when pressed will activate the spell. Since battles in DOTA last only a few seconds, clicking on the icons with the mouse is a little slow.

Tip #4 Mouse

Getting a good mouse is important for DOTA. You'll also enjoy the gaming experience more with a good mouse, skates, and mouse pad.

Tip #5 Item Build

Having the right item build will increase the power of your character. Some characters require more health or more speed, or more mana as the game progresses. Knowing the complimentary item build for your character will increase its power and direct damage.

Tip #6 Team Play

In competitive DOTA play, its necessary to play in groups. Public DOTA Strategy and Competitive DOTA strategy are different with the latter being more difficult and emphasis on team cooperation.

Tip #7 Mana Required

Always take note of the amount of mana required to cast 2 spells. 1 spell alone will normally not be sufficient to take down an opponent.

Tip #8 Item Cost

By understanding what items need to be built, you'll be able to know the cost and time your return to the fountain. Less trips back to the fountain means more time in the battle field, which translates to more gold and experience for your DOTA character.

What Is Wii Fit All About ?

A big part of why Wii has been such a successful console for Nintendo is the fitness games available for it. Wii Fit was released in Japan in late 2007 selling 1 million units within the first month. It went international in mid 2008 causing stock shortages all over the world. The game came packaged with a peripheral known as the "Wii Balance Board" - which is a board the player stands on whilst playing the game. The series has more than 40 physical activities and consists of balance games, strength training exercises, aerobics and yoga. It generally received positive reviews from critics and was a big hit with the general public. This huge success made Wii Fit series into the third best selling game in console's history.

After the success of Wii Fit it was inevitable that there would be a sequel and it came in late 2009 in the shape of Wii Fit Plus. And indeed it was a great success selling 2.16 million copies within 1 month of its release. Basically, Nintendo took the basic components of Wii Fit and expanded on them - it included 15 new balance and aerobics games and six new strength training and yoga activities. Some viewed Wii Fit Plus as more of an expansion to the older version since there were no drastic changes to the way the game worked or its features. As well as the inclusion of new games a calorie-burning counter, the ability to create your own fitness routines and the option to create profiles for pets and babies were added. The updated system is sold as a bundle with Wii Balance Board and also on its own for people who already have the balance board. As with its predecessor, the Fit Plus received positive review overall and has been widely praised for its role in getting people more active whilst playing video games.

Wii Fit is a part of many households, but it has also has a commercial use today. It has been used by a number of hospitals, nursing homes, health clubs and even military. In hospitals it is used to aid patients in recovery from injuries as a form of physiotherapy, while in nursing homes it's used to give elderly people a chance to do balance and flexibility workouts. About 400 Wii systems have been given to military bases in USA to encourage soldiers to workout in their spare time.

Much like in any other case, to play Wii Fit you need a good working console. Most electronics tend to develop certain issues over time. If you ever have a problem with your Wii, you can check out www.wiitroubleshooting.net.

Best PS3 Games Released in 2011: Favorites

The entire PlayStation 3 gaming industry has improved vastly due to this year's video game releases which boast of 3D graphics. Graphics are emerging that are fast with very fluid movement, very lifelike and the landscapes are highly imaginative and stunningly beautiful. The major gaming companies have increased their time invested into improving game play with a range of innovative ideas applied during the making of this season's new releases. For PlayStation 3 players who love their games to be challenging or fast and furious; these are my favorites for 2011.

1. SOCOM 4: US Navy Seals - The graphics are stunning and the gameplay will keep you engrossed for hours.

2. Killzone 3: - New characters have been added to this first person shooters game and the action is very fast. The 3D graphics result in very realistic characters.

3. MLB 11: The Show - Top quality, with the baseball playing experience feeling even more realistic due to the 3D effect. The gameplay has improved greatly in the best baseball simulation game ever produced.

4. Mortal Kombat 9: - This has got to be the best fighting game in the market. The gameplay has improved significantly, providing even more challenge to the players. Each character is fitted with two fatalities and the game is gorier than ever before.

5. Crysis 2: - The 3D graphics are spectacular in this release and the gameplay is drastically better, providing very interesting and enthralling gameplay.

6. Portal 2: - Portal 2 is a symbol of human ingenuity as the game will make you tap parts of your brain that you have never utilised before. The game if full of innovative puzzles wherein you would be required to use portal guns to open portals, solve puzzles and counter hazards such as gun turrets, toxins, toxic gas, giant pistons, and torrents of realistic gunfire. With a perfect mix of innovative gameplay and sharp comedy writing, Portal 2 defines itself as the best video game in the market to date.

7. Assassin's Creed: - Revelations is due to be released on Nov, 15th 2011 for PS 3 and Xbox360 by Ubisoft, we had to mention this upcoming video game because it is set to bust all the charts that ever existed. The game will be playable in full 3D and includes the three protagonists from the previous games: Ezio, Altair and Desmond. New gameplay additions include an item called the hookblade, which can be used to zipline across the city or grab enemies to yank them in for a combo attack. The hookblade reportedly speeds up navigation by around 30 percent. Along with the hookblade, Ezio will also have 300 different bomb variations at his disposal, which will be craftable. Players will be able to customize their characters' appearance and weapons, as well as start a guild. New multiplayer modes will be added to the already existing modes, including "story-oriented quests", as well as a much requested Capture the Flag mode. Sounds good!

How To Change The Resolution Of Java Games

One of the few problems with having a phone with a nice big display is that many games do not display full screen. No problem! It's an easy fix that anyone can do and you'll be running full screen games on your phone in no time.

1. Using an archiver such as WinRar, open the jar file.

2. Once you have opened the jar, you will see a folder called 'META-INF'. Open this folder.

3. In the META-INF folder there will be one file called 'MANIFEST.MF'. Drag this file onto your desktop and open it in notepad.

4. Now you must know 2 things to edit the file. First, you must know the original resolution of the game. Ususally this information can be found
on the author's website. Second, you must know the resolution of your screen. Then type the following two lines at the end of the text in the MANIFEST.MF file:

DOTA game or Defense of the Ancients (DotA)

DotA map
DotA

Defense of the Ancients (DotA) is a custom scenario for the real-time strategy video game Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos and its expansion, Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne, based on the "Aeon of Strife" map for StarCraft. The objective of the scenario is for each team to destroy the opponents' Ancients, heavily guarded structures at opposing corners of the map. Players use powerful units known as heroes, and are assisted by allied heroes and AI-controlled fighters called "creeps". As in role-playing games, players level up their hero and use gold to buy equipment during the mission.

The scenario was developed with the "World Editor" of Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos, and was updated upon the release of the expansion, The Frozen Throne. There have been many variations of the original concept; the most popular is DotA Allstars, which has been maintained by several authors during development. The current developer is known by his pseudonym as "IceFrog", and has been developing the game since 2005.

Since its release, Allstars has become a feature at several worldwide tournaments, including Blizzard Entertainment's BlizzCon and the Asian World Cyber Games, as well as the Cyberathlete Amateur and CyberEvolution leagues; Gamasutra declared that DotA was perhaps the most popular "free, non-supported game mod in the world"

Game Play

Defense of the Ancients pits two teams of players against each other: the Sentinel and the Scourge. Players on the Sentinel team are based at the southwest corner of the map, and those on the Scourge team are based at the northeast corner. Each base is defended by towers and waves of units which guard the main paths leading to their base. In the center of each base is the "Ancient", a building that must be destroyed to win the game.

Each human player controls one Hero, a powerful unit with unique abilities. In Allstars, players on each side choose one of ninety-seven heroes, each with different abilities and tactical advantages over other heroes.[6] The scenario is highly team-oriented; it is difficult for one player to carry the team to victory alone.[7] Nevertheless, some heroes, given enough time, can change the outcome single-handedly, while countering the opposing team's heroes. Defense of the Ancients allows up to ten players in a five versus five format and an additional two slots for referees or observers, often with an equal number of players on each side.

Because the gameplay revolves around strengthening individual heroes, it does not require one to focus on resource management and base-building, as in most traditional real-time strategy games. Killing computer-controlled or neutral units earns the player experience points; when enough experience is accumulated, the player gains a level. Leveling up improves the hero's toughness and the damage it can inflict, and allows players to upgrade their spells or skills. In addition to accumulating experience, players also manage a single resource: gold.

The typical resource gathering of Warcraft III is replaced by a combat-oriented money system; in addition to a small periodic income, heroes earn gold by killing hostile units, base structures, and enemy heroes. This gives rise to a technique called last hitting, which is when the player attacks a hostile unit when "its hit points are low enough to kill it with one blow". Using gold, players buy items to strengthen their hero and gain abilities. Certain items can be combined with recipes to create more powerful items. Buying items that suit one's hero is an important tactical element of the scenario.

Allstars offers a variety of game modes, selected by the game host at the beginning of the match. The game modes dictate the difficulty of the scenario, as well as whether people can choose their hero or are assigned one randomly. Many game modes can be combined (for example, an easy difficulty level and a random hero pick), allowing more flexible options.

Development

Warcraft III is the third title in the Warcraft series of real-time strategy games developed by Blizzard Entertainment. As with Warcraft II, Blizzard included a free "world editor" in the game that allows players to create custom scenarios or "maps" for the game, which can be played online with other players through Battle.net.[12] These custom scenarios can be simple terrain changes, which play like normal Warcraft games, or they can be entirely new game scenarios with custom objectives, units, items, and events, like Defense of the Ancients.[12]

The first version of Defense of the Ancients was released in 2003 by a mapmaker under the alias Eul,[13] who based the map on a previous StarCraft scenario known as "Aeon of Strife",[11] After the release of Warcraft's expansion The Frozen Throne, which added new features to the World Editor, Eul did not update the scenario.[14] Other mapmakers produced spinoffs that added new heroes, items, and features.[13]

Among the DotA variants created in the wake of Eul's map included Allstars, developed by modder Steve Feak (under the alias Guinsoo); this version would become the most popular version of the map.[15] Feak said when he began developing Allstars he had no idea how popular the game would eventually become; the emerging success of the gametype inspired him to design a new title around what he considered an emerging game genre.[16] Feak added a recipe system for items so that player's equipment would scale as they grew more powerful, as well as a powerful boss character called Roshan (named after his bowling ball) who required an entire team to defeat.[13]

Feak used a battle.net chat channel as a place for DotA players to congregate,[13] but DotA Allstars had no official site for discussions and hosting. The leaders of the DotA Allstars clan, TDA, proposed that a dedicated web site be created to replace the various online alternatives that were infrequently updated or improperly maintained. TDA member Steve "Pendragon" Mescon created the former official community site, dota-allstars.com, on October 14, 2004.[17]

Towards the end of his association with the map, Feak primarily worked on optimizing the map before handing over control to another developer after version 6.01. The new author, IceFrog, added new features, heroes, and fixes. Each release is accompanied with a changelog.[18] IceFrog is notoriously reclusive, refusing to give interviews; the only evidence of IceFrog's authorship was the map maker's email account on the official website and the name branded on the game's loading screen.[3] Icefrog now interacts with players through a personal blog where he answers common questions players have about him and about the game.[19] He has also posted information about upcoming map releases, including previews of new heroes and items.[20] In October 2009, Icefrog was hired by Valve Corporation, leading a team in a project that he has described as "great news for DotA fans".[21]

Defense of the Ancients is maintained via official forums. Users can post ideas for new heroes or items, some of which are added to the map. Players have contributed icons and hero descriptions and created the artwork displayed while the map loads, and suggestions for changes to existing heroes or items are taken seriously; IceFrog once changed a new hero less than two weeks after the new version of the map was released. Versions of the scenario where enemy heroes are controlled by artificial intelligences have also been released. Mescon continues to maintain dota-allstars.com, which as of April 2009 has 1.5 million registered members and receives more than a million unique visitors each month. New team members have been added to roll out visual and system improvements to the site. IceFrog announced due to conflict of interest that he would be boycotting dota-allstars.com and starting his own web site, playdota.com, while continuing game development.

Because Warcraft III custom games have none of the features designed to improve game quality (matchmaking players based on connection speed, etc.), various programs are used to maintain Defense of the Ancients. External tools ping player's locations, and games can be named to exclude geographic regions.Clans and committees such as TDA maintain their own official list of rules and regulations, and players can be kicked from matches by being placed on "banlists".

Reception and legacy

The popularity of Defense of the Ancients has increased over time. The scenario was featured by Computer Gaming World in a review of new maps and mods in Warcraft III, and was called "the ultimate RTS" by game journalist and developer Luke Smith. Allstars became an important tournament scenario, starting with its prominence at the debut of Blizzard's BlizzCon convention in 2005. Allstars was also featured in the Malaysia and Singapore World Cyber Games starting in 2005, and the World Cyber Games Asian Championships beginning with the 2006 season. Defense of the Ancients was included in the game lineup for the internationally recognized Cyberathlete Amateur League and CyberEvolution leagues. Additionally, the scenario appeared in Electronic Sports World Cup (ESWC) 2008; Oliver Paradis, ESWC's competition manager, noted that the high level of community support behind the scenario, as well as its worldwide appeal, were among the reasons it was chosen.

The scenario is popular in many parts of the world; in the Philippines and Thailand, it is played as much as the game Counter-Strike.It is also popular in Sweden and other Northern European countries, where the Defense of the Ancients-inspired song "Vi sitter i Ventrilo och spelar DotA" by Swedish musician Basshunter reached the European 2006 charts at #116 and cracked the top ten Singles Charts in Sweden, Norway,[33] and Finland.[34] LAN tournaments are a major part of worldwide play, including tournaments in Sweden and Russia; however, due to a lack of LAN tournaments and championships in North America, several teams disbanded. Blizzard points to DotA as an example of what dedicated mapmakers can create using developer's tools.

In June 2008, Michael Walbridge, writing for Gamasutra, stated that DotA "is likely the most popular and most-discussed free, non-supported game mod in the world". In pointing to the strong community built around the game, Walbridge stated that DotA shows it is much easier for a community game to be maintained by the community, and this is one of the maps' greatest strengths. Defense of the Ancients has been credited as one of the influences for the 2009 Gas Powered Games title Demigod, with the video game publication GameSpy noting the game's premise revolved around aspiring gods "[playing] DotA in real life". Guinsoo went on to apply many of the mechanics and lessons he learned from Defense of the Ancients to the Riot Games title League of Legends. Other "DotA clones" include S2 Games' Heroes of Newerth.

PC Games Vs Consoles

In the past few years, there has been a debate on PC games and Consoles sales growth. This is something, which has led to speculations that PC games are outdoing console games. This aspect has been demonstrated by different infographics that indicate PC games nearly overwhelm consoles. Whether this is true or not, the bottom-line is that game players seem to have shifted to PC games. One thing, which might have contributed to this turn of events is that consoles have previously been limited in their innovativeness.

These handheld devices were initially designed to serve as sole game playing units. They have also been developed with fixed designs meaning that their models have predetermined features. Console developers have set fixed memory capacity for the devices. They have pre-set speed of the various processors and therefore, they know what performance to expect from these devices.

One aspect which has been cited as a reason why console users may have switched to PC games is memory capacity. The highest memory capacity of consoles is that of Sony's PS3, with a capacity of 550 MHz. Other such as Xbox has 500 MHz.

Similarly, Wii console has a low memory capacity of 250 MHz. With Personal computers holding a memory capacity of averagely, 1GHz or even more, it means that users of consoles do not enjoy the benefits of enhanced memory capacity. However, with the introduction of R4 card, which is a storage memory enhancement gadget that is able to boost the processing speed of consoles, users can now enjoy increased storage capacity.

As users of consoles seek for more user-experience from their devices, it is certain that manufacturers of these gadgets have evaluated and considered consumer demands. There are been an improvement in the design features of consoles, which enables users enjoy an array of entertainment programs ranging from games, music, movies, email communications and live chats.

Users are now able to use their consoles not only as game playing tools but also as great communication devices. They can communicate live via Skype. They can download music from the internet. They can also watch movies. In addition, they can take quality high definition (HD) and 3D images and photos and store them right in their gadgets.

Initially, if you wanted to download games, you had to go to a PC and access the internet. However, with internet connectivity feature of the consoles, users can directly download contents, which they need to play. This has greatly redefined the user-experience from these devices.

Consumers today are seeking for value in what they buy and with the response of the console developers, it seems that the plight of console game players has been heard and positive innovations have been introduced in the gadgets. This could probably be one reason why console games sales, which have declined in the last three years, are now gaining an improvement.

In a report compiled by Ignite Game Technologies, it shows that in 2011, PC games retained a larger share of sales with $11.6 billion compared to consoles' $8.0 billion. Despite these projections, it is certain that the new and upcoming technological design in consoles will make them reclaim their popularity. If you want to download different contents on the internet right from your console, it might be important for you to buy r4 card in order to store your contents.
